Less than one week after the announcement, Twitter has gotten itself a complete makeover, and a new purpose with that. It no longer wants to be known as a platform that informs you on what people are doing. It wants to be known as a place where you are updated with what people are talking about.
There, a big difference!
Let’s face it people, it is no longer about you. It is about the things happening around you.

With this new focus, the homepage shows visitors popular topics by the minute, day and week; hoping that some might appeal to potential users. As seen in the screenshot below, visitors can also search for real time tweets that contain specific keywords they are interested in. This makes sense because if you have not noticed, most tweeters have long ago started talking about anything but what they are doing.
For people who did not understand what Twitter is, this homepage clarifies it – If you do not want to be oblivious, join Twitter. Through a new homepage, Twitter has repositioned itself away from being another social media network.
Smart move? I’m not sure how enticing sharing and discovering what’s happening in the world through Twitter is; but one thing I know is that if it really wants to stop the confusion, the “what you are doing” status update bar should join in the transformation as well.
With all that’s done, do you get Twitter now?
