China’s Q2 online search market result is out.
According to iResearch, a Chinese Internet Consultancy, Google’s share of the Chinese online market dipped by 1.1% while Baidu maintains its stronghold, seeing an improvement of 1.6%. Bing has also attracted a small fraction of the Chinese population with a 0.3% gain in market share.
Chinese Online Search Market Shares Distribution
– Baidu 75.7%
– Google 19.8%
– Bing 0.3%
Google is popular mainly among urban Chinese users, while the rural areas turn to Baidu. Not surprisingly, it is also observed that some users go to Google for searches in English and switch to Baidu for searches in Chinese.
“The situation in the Chinese online search market is relatively stable, Baidu holds an absolutely dominant position, and there is limited room for other companies to play,” Analysys said.
