With Twitter, Facebook and Livejournal down, the evil Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack has caught the attention of Internet users, leaving them bewildered and curious.
So what is DDoS?
It is an effort to make a site inaccessible to its intended users and preventing it from working normally. This is usually done by attacking the site with a multitude of compromised systems (bots). Because the victim site can’t handle the huge influx of traffic/messages, it would be slowed, dysfunctional and forced offline.
