This is part of the series: Who’s going to break through Google’s strong walls? Covering the timeline of battles that Google is facing against 4 major companies Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook and Apple.
Over the years, Google’s products have won praises and support from its users. Its products such as Gmail, Google Docs, Google Map and Google Analytics have truly improved our lives in many ways.
However, this success was not welcomed by some and in fact, has been envied by Google’s (many) rivals.
With Google getting stronger and better by the day, its competitors (notably Microsoft) are devising plans to take it down. If you have not been keeping yourself in the loop, here are the battles that Google is currently fighting:
Microsoft
Bing
When Microsoft launched its new search engine, Bing, it actually launched its first missile in Google’s direction. Bing was created to help users make better decisions whether it is for travel, health or shopping. With this niche, it seems like it is not directly targeting Google but these past few weeks have proven that Bing is desperately trying to eat into Google’s search share.
Google Chrome OS
Not too long after, Google presented its new weapon that would be available to consumers in the second half of 2010. Best of all, it is made of Chrome. Google’s new Chrome OS is what I am talking about. According to Google, Chrome is everything that the consumers want:
“People want to get to their email instantly, without wasting time waiting for their computers to boot and browsers to start up. They want their computers to always run as fast as when they first bought them. They want their data to be accessible to them wherever they are and not have to worry about losing their computer or forgetting to back up files. Even more importantly, they don’t want to spend hours configuring their computers to work with every new piece of hardware, or have to worry about constant software updates.”
Sounds like it is referring to someone here!
Microsoft Office 2010 Suite
If you think that Hotmail vs Gmail, Windows Mobile vs Android, Bing vs Google search and Windows vs Google Chrome are the end of the face-off, you are wrong! What do you think of Microsoft Office 2010 suite vs Google Docs? I must say we as consumers are always torn between these two giants.
Going Google
It’s getting hot in here and it just got steamier. A few words on a huge billboard could really hurt come ego.
MicroHoo
If you think Microsoft is going to fight Google alone, you are really mistaken. In any case, Microsoft knows that it can’t do it alone, especially in the search arena. It therefore engaged Yahoo’s help, hoping to gain a better position to fight with one-third search share.
Out of all the major players rivaling Google, none is as aggressive as Microsoft. It seems like both are going to fight till the last one stands. I guess all we can do is watch and continue supporting our own preferred giant.
