Singapore: #ndrsg a Trending Topic

#ndrsg trendingIt seems like Singapore’s National Day has been greatly boosted via social media this year.

The National Day Rally (NDR) speech was broadcasted online via the same platform where the National Day Parade 09 was aired just last week. Except this time round, Facebook was not the only social media site involved but Twitter too.

#ndrsg is now a Trending Topic!

Inspired by President Barack Obama perhaps but no matter what, social media has once again proven itself as a powerful tool to reach massive audiences.

Live Streaming of the NDR speech was accompanied by a Facebook Chat box, allowing everyone to share and discuss their views. There was also a Twitter panel, which kept users updated with some keynote speech made by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Non Twitter people was not left out as well! A team of bloggers was engaged to update them. How thoughtful!

It seemed like the bloggers were having a tough time digesting and penning what PM Lee said.

Nonetheless, I think it is a two thumbs up for Singapore’s effort in using social media to publicize this year’s NDR.

Great speech with social broadcast! Youngsters should have more reasons to keep up with national affairs now!
