Undoubtedly, Twitter has some catching up to do when compared with the big guns, notably Google, Facebook and Yahoo.
Nonetheless, its exponential growth so far is a one of the reasons why Twitter bird can still be chirping so cheerfully. ComScore recently released an interesting chart reflecting the micro-blogging site’s popularity across every continent.
Strong growth is experienced in Asia, Latin America and Africa, but we might be seeing some saturation in North America.
In June, Twitter captured 11 million visitors from Europe, 7 million from Asia Pacific, and 4 million from Latin America. Unique visitors exploded from 2 million in June 2008 to a whopping 22 million in these three continents.
Its simple interface and mobility are sources of its rapid growth. The highly anticipated Facebook Lite might just adopt some ideas to tackle its weak presence in Asia.
