When we say mobile phones are going social, we are not joking!
Samsung is going to launch Corby, a touch screen handset that focuses on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in Europe later this month.
It is also revealed that the phone is tagged with an attractive price of $215, targeting the youth market.
In line with that, the phone would also be coming in colorful designs: Jamaican Yellow, Cupid Pink, Minimal White and Festival Orange.
With a simple press of its display, users can access their profiles, send tweets and watch videos. The phone also comes with a 2 mega pixel camera, mp3 player and FM radio.
J.K. Shin, Head of Samsung’s Mobile Division commented:
“We recognize the importance of social networks in the modern mobile industry.
The design and functionality of the Corby meets the needs of a highly digitally connected and style conscious youth audience.”
While Samsung is already lagging behind compared to smart phones such as the iPhone, it might not be too late to integrate social media into its new products.
With consumers’ increasing engagement in social media, companies have no choice but to adapt to this new way of life. We can definitely expect more innovations (like IBM’s social media TV remote control) to be rolled out as more businesses struggle to get involved in social media.
And lucky for us, probably at lower costs!
