Yahoo Meme to Challenge Twitter
Yahoo has unofficially rolled out its meme micro-blogging service in English after its soft launch in Spanish and Portuguese.
Meme is currently available through invites only. It obviously has the ambition to grab a share in the micro-blogging market; with Twitter currently at the top of the league.
Meme’s Goals
As revealed on its site, Yahoo has a few goals for meme and they translate to what we can expect from this micro-blogging site!
- Things have to be quick, easy and simple to do
- You should be able to share whatever kind of content you publish or find in the web
- Your posts should get around without you having to be a part of any specific social network
- You keep the credit for your discoveries and creations
- You should easily find what’s drawing everyone else’s attention
Functions in Brief
Besides the norm, meme has a re-post counter that helps track your post popularity. It also threads conversations for easy commenting.
Unlike Twitter, its display updates are not just limited to text. Images and videos can be viewed without the need to click on links. This is probably something new to look forward to.
It seems like the people behind meme has been studying the strengths of each social networking site and integrated them into it. Speaking of which, we should also expect to see other critical functions such as trending topics and real-time searches on this new site.

No character limit?

Unlike Yahoo’s home page, meme has a pretty clean and slick feel and we hope its functions would live up to its package!
