One way social marketing works is the constant presentation of the brand to larger and growing numbers of people. So even if a FAN is not a customer or a true FAN as some might say they still provide some marketing support by sharing the simple fact that they are a fan on thier profile page.

I see brands and specifically some magazines struggling with way too few fans given their possible fan base and minuscule numbers relative to their published subscription base. Magazines that i see on the store magazine rack suffing with hundreds and not thousands of fans. They simply created a fan page and have not paid much attention to creatig growth or they may have just become frustrated with learning how to do it.

Obviously there are others who Fan count may even exceed their subscription base and they are doing something right..

.I do not know how this company Usocial actually creates the fans but it is hard to imagine they are paying people to become fans of any page. Not many of us would be interested in becoming fans of bogus pages for a few pennies each. So i understood that they are attracting people ot the page (obviously with a form of spam) and those people will then have to take action to become a fan once they are introduced to the page.

I have created fan pages and know it is a difficult thing to start rolling but I have shown consitent grown in all of the pages over the few month they have been running. I now have in excess of 32000 fans on all of the pages and this number grows in constant association with the time i invest. I could almost guarantee 10,000 fans over a 60-90 period and can attest to the fact that when the fan base hits a large enough number it continues to attract new fans at a reletively smooth rate.

My conclusion is different. That fans even passive fans have a value, but 10,000 fans not interacting with the page have short term value but if they are encouraged to interact then the fan base will continuously grow and this service may be a shot in the arm. But the page owner needs help and some training to keep that moment going if they did buy this Usocail service and it worked.

Also, I believe you will get a high percentage of those 10,000 fans who are interested in the topic of the page. Fans are not “forced” to become a fan (or “like”) – they have to agree to like the page.

#2 – Maybe, but highly unlikely. Even if your page did get some negative comments, you can DELETE them

#3 – Desperate, no – POPULAR, yes!

#4 – Why would it “piss off” other fans just because a company had a large increase in fan base?

It's a business expense for start up companies so that they have a more reputable image. It's hard building just the first 1,000… why not buy it (even if they aren't active) to attract active people?

Well my review of getmorepopular.com is the same as Jeff’s – A Scam – you lie about refunds, and the more I read about you the more I find people in the same boat as me. I believe if you have a good fan page you won’t need to buy likes. Keeping your fan page updated with relevant information will engage your current fan base and make them more likely to recommend your page to their friends

I disagree with your 5 Reasons. 

1: “There is no point in having 10,000 fans” - 

Yes, there is a point. Having 10,000 fans will increase your exposure on Facebook, and make your fan page look like a very popular page, thus leading to more fans. Also, I believe you will get a high percentage of those 10,000 fans who are interested in the topic of the page. Fans are not “forced” to become a fan (or “like”) – they have to agree to like the page. 

2 – Maybe, but highly unlikely. Even if your page did get some negative comments, you can DELETE them 

4 – Why would it “piss off” other fans just because a company had a large increase in fan base? 

5 – Will bought fans leave?

The real problem with buying Facebook fans is that all these services are scams. I tried usocial which delivered the first order but then did not deliver on next order and answered no emails or calls. I then tried BLUMPO. This was the worst as they intentionally mislead. Mario Johnston (Blumpo owner) replied to my emails claiming that I just needed to be patient.
