Often, we judge someone’s influence on Twitter by the number of followers he or she has. Although we should not solely use this to measure influence, it is to a certain extent accurate.
For the fun of it, we gathered the necessary information of each social media site that is on Twitter, and ranked them accordingly.
Note: We don’t take founders or any personal accounts as the social site’s main account. For example, we are not taking into account Digg’s founder, @kevinrose but the official account, @Digg.
Twitter Standing
1. Twitter
Followers: 2,272,802
Bio: Random stuff about Twitter’s staff, office and updating its users with technical problems and solutions.
Remarks: It doesn’t make sense if Twitter is not on top.
2. YouTube
Followers: 139,866
Bio: Tweets on YouTube news, trends, and — of course — videos.
Remarks: 4th in web traffic ranking but 2nd in Twitter.
3. Facebook
Followers: 125,672
Bio: Give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected.
Remarks: Facebook is the number one social networking site, which also likes birdie backgrounds.
4. MySpace
Followers: 39,183
Bio: MySpace is a technology company connecting people through personal expression, content, and culture.
Remarks: 100k behind Facebook in terms of followers and biting the dust in terms of web visitors.
5. Digg
Followers: 30,325
Bio: This is a way to update you on all things Digg, big and small. If you need help, contact support@digg.com – Thanks!
Remarks: Number one social bookmarking site in and out of Twitter
6. Flickr
Followers: 9,214
Bio: The official Flickr Twitter page
Remarks: Still the undisputed champion of social photo sharing.
7. StumbleUpon
Followers: 7,791
Bio: [BLANK!]
Remarks: StumbleUpon didn’t know what to put for its bio. Come on, it is just 140 characters!
8. Delicious
Followers: 4,342
Bio: I’m Britta (community manager) or another team member. We listen to people talking about Delicious, and we respond. Yay. See also: http://support.delicious.com
Remarks: Delicious isn’t that delicious on Twitter.
9. Reddit
Followers: 3,150
Bio: We finally caved. This is the official twitter account for http://reddit.com
Remarks: Certainly the cutest of all but definitely not the most followed 
Web Traffic Standing
We have taken the top 5 and placed their Compete’s web traffic rankings into one view. As expected, Facebook emerged as champion and ironically (but obviously), Twitter came in last.
