5 Great Commercial Parodies on YouTube

youtubeYouTube is a great resource for entertaining commercials, where a large portion of them are remixes and parodies.

Are parodies on YouTube potentially harmful to businesses? It really depends and it is not like the companies are able to control these user-generated videos anyway.

With parodies being so popular among viewers, businesses should not be trying to control or avoid them. They should harness their power, like what some companies did in the videos below.

A Sony Vaio supporter has decided that functionality is of more importance than being the thinnest laptop in the world. Don’t take it too hard, Apple fans.

BlackBerry came out with a seemingly disturbing commercial that saw them shooting through an Apple. It is obvious who they were poking at and Apple did a great job with a parody response. Simple fact: How can a berry shoot through an apple?

Mac VS PC commercials have gotten quite a big reaction from consumers; reflected by the number of its parodies around! Even with so many of them around, this South Park version stands out with more than 13 million views!

YouTube, as always, is a double edged sword. On one side, many found this parody hilarious but on the other, Britney fans were upset over it. We can’t stop remixes from surfacing on YouTube but Pepsi definitely has no problem with that. With more than half a million views, it is one big winner.

Coincidentally, this Honda ad was featured on our post last week. It was so costly, it would be a waste not to make a parody out of it. Most importantly, this parody has no intention of bringing the brand down. It was all good fun!
