Twitter Confirmed “Significant” Funding

twitter-logoMore funds = Less fail whale and bugs?

This dream is coming true with Twitter Co-founder and CEO , Evan Williams’ confirmation. However, the amount of funding Twitter received still requires some guesswork. No exact amount of funding was announced.

Instead, the word “significant” was used. Is $100 million considered significant?

Here’s what Evan posted:

“There’s a lot of talk today about our financing. A few hours ago we closed a significant round of funding with a group of investment firms that we’re excited to publicly thank: Insight Venture Partners, T. Rowe Price, Institutional Venture Partners, Spark Capital and Benchmark Capital.

It was important to us that we find investment partners who share our vision for building a company of enduring value. Twitter’s journey has just begun and we are committed to building the best product, technology, and company possible. I’m proud of the team we’ve built so far and I’m confident in the future we’ll build together.”

My thoughts? Not disclosing the funding amount could be a strategy to keep rivals in the dark. My gut feeling tells me that the funding is more than just $100 million. But no matter how much the funding is, kudos to the Twitter team!

We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments forum :)
