What Flickr Thinks About Social Media

Flickr-logoIf I ask you for a picture to convey what you think about social media, what would you pick? They say a picture can speak a thousand words but wait till they meet Flickr, where a million pictures are found.

With a simple search for “social media”, we can see what people from unique places, who speak different tongues think about social media.

The ideas of social media can be warped or totally random, but they translate to what social media mean to individuals. Note how some people view social media with such complexity while others have already integrated it into their lives with ease.

This is just one of the proofs that social media is diversely progressive, as well as constantly evolving. Maybe some descriptions may be similar but each category has a different perspective on it. I guess we are still in for a more (I hope) surprises from the development of social media platforms and their features.

If you were to sum up social media in one word, Sarah, what would it be?

Wow you got me (: If it must be a word, I would say social media is power-shifting (if tt counts as a word!) With more user generated content, the power is being transferred from corporations, gatekeepers and authorities to any individual on the street with a computer and Internet.

    How about you? (:

Great idea to search for social media pictures on flickr, FB, Digg, …

… some of the results really impressive.

What is interesting for me is that the results are definitely better than the results that one would get from google for the same search!

So social media sites are more and more going to get search engine alternatives and this not just in the sector of real time search.

Hi :) maybe social media is the real Universal Search, uhaa I think google does not like this ;-) .

Thank you Sarah, another great post!

    With kind regards from Austria
