As what people like to say, if Facebook were a country, it would have been the third largest population in the world.
If that’s not impressive enough, it is still growing at an alarming rate.
Even without the help from China (Facebook is blocked over there), Facebook usage is seeing an increasing trend in the Southeast Asia region.
US Monthly Active Users

Facebook reached 100.5 million monthly active users in US, making the country the first to cross the 100 million mark. That also means nearly 1/3 of the US population are logging into Facebook each month.
From the chart above, we can see that most US Facebook users belong to the 18 to 34 age group, and median age, as we have seen previously is 33.
Astonishing Growth in Southeast Asia
Thanks to Facebook games, such as Pet Society and Restaurant City, and the increasing number of Asian developers, we are seeing rapid growth in Southeast Asia, especially so in Taiwan. Just 6 months ago, Facebook had less than 400,000 Taiwan users but it shot up to 5.4 million this month! That’s 1/4 of Taiwan’s population, mind you!
Local businesses are also leveraging on the games’ popularity in their marketing efforts, encouraging even more users to play the games.

I guess games developers should start taking into account Asians’ gaming preferences after seeing the stunning number of potential players. Perhaps, they can start by not leaving out Asian flags.
