BK Shower Babe Marketing: Creative Or Creepy?

BK babeFor those who have watched Burger King’s shower babe video, I wonder what you guys think about it.

Like all men, I love hot babes but certainly not if it is done by Burger King, which I closely associate with delicious burgers (not sexy babes!).

According to Burger King, this campaign was inspired by a market research, which reflected that its breakfast customers were male dominated. And to them, a sexy babe is the answer to more sales.

Personally, I find it rather creepy. The campaign itself is no doubt creative but for a burger chain? My answer would be ‘no’. For me, it just doesn’t quite fit the Burger King branding image.

Sarah Power, Burger King’s marketing director U.K. and Eire for Burger King, said in a statement:

“Our shower-cam gives hungry Brits the chance to watch the BK Shower Girl singing in the shower every day to help them work up an appetite for our fantastic new breakfast range.”

I’m not sure if this campaign would work for most but it sure doesn’t work on me. How about for you?

I think people who work in marketing over-think just about everything they do, the end result being they have no clue what people want or like. Advertising of any kind is one thing: annoying. And every day it gets more annoying and more invasive. Come up with a way to advertise that doesn't make me wish I could firebomb ad agencies and I'll be impressed.

indeed. That is way creative ads that make us laugh, cry, reflect and think are ones that are most likely to work.

But of course it is easily to say then done.

Well this is weird. I just don't see how it sells burgers. I don't think watching these clips will make you hungry for burgers, something else maybe.
