According to a study by SheSpeaks, more women are using social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
To be specific, it’s an increase from 38% in 2008 to 86% of women this year.
Of which, 50% revealed that they purchased products because of these sites and 40% have used coupons found on them.
I guess by now, we should be pretty convinced that coupons work wonders for Internet users.
When asked which social networks they prefer, 80% of women chose Facebook. What’s more, Facebook users are twice more likely to log in daily than Twitter users. The reason? Facebook allows them to share photos and interact with friends better than other networks.
Understand and Leverage
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out where products targeting women should be promoted. But how they should be promoted is the tough question.
If women prefer Facebook because of the reasons cited, businesses should make use of them to make their campaigns viral. Unfortunately, running contests on Facebook is no longer free.
Even though some creative ideas are no longer feasible, there are still other things that can be explored. Know the rules and play around them. Sometimes, we don’t need a contest to make a campaign viral, we just need to understand women better!
