10 Most Viral Videos For December 2009

leopard sealGoviral has released its top 10 most viral videos of the month.

As always, this month’s collection is awesome, providing marketers and entrepreneurs with ideas to maximize their social media campaigns.

My favorite this month is National Geographic’s ‘Deadly Predator’.

What’s yours?

1. Activasion – Skateboard Dog

This video is obviously fake but it has definitely caught the attention of many. It was posted on a number of blogs that were highly related to video gaming. In a month, more than 1,150,000 people have watched the clip and about 1,400 comments were posted.

2. National Geographic – Deadly Predator

Paul Nicklen describes his most amazing experience as a National Geographic photographer – coming face-to-face with one of Antarctica’s most vicious predators, a leopard seal.

3. New Zealand Book Council – Going West

To help people pick up a reading habit, the video makers created paper cut animations based on Maurice Gee’s novel, “Going West”. The idea was to arouse interest by first making this classic New Zealand novel come to life through hand cut ‘pop up’ scenery.

4. Victoria’s Secret – One Gift

This sexy Victoria’s Secret ad, which was directed by Michael Bay has created quite some buzz in just a week.

5. Plane Stupid – Polar Bears

The ad aims to educate people about the impact of short-haul flights on the climate. The Polar Bears are victims of our actions and their premature deaths reflect the effect of climate change on the natural world.

6. Intel – Cannonbells

The people at Intel Finland decided to create the world’s biggest Intel chime. Pretty impressive.

7. Pink Glove Dance

Age doesn’t matter as long as you have a young heart. The staff of the Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland created this video to generate breast cancer awareness throughout the hospital system. It just lacks a thousand more to 6 million views.

8. Orbit – Clean it up

Clean It Up. A video featuring animated lips cleaning up a rundown home. This neat video has racked up more than a million views on YouTube.

9. Epson – Extreme Gamer

A classic example of guerrilla marketing caught on video. The video has reached about 400,000 people and 100 blogs in less than two weeks.

10. Muscle Milk – Sexy Pilgrim

Comedy singing tends to work better on YouTube. This “Sexy Pilgrim” campaign was launched by Muscle Milk to promote its energy drinks. Better, faster, stronger and further.
