Understand Your Twitter Followers With Ad.ly!

adly1Ever wondered how many of your followers are actually reading your tweets? There’s no point in having a large following when most of them are either bots or dormant. Also, if you have a following of more than 100, it would probably be hard to track their overall characteristics.

Understanding your Twitter audience is especially important to businesses and marketers. Knowing the actual proportion of followers who are your real target audience can tell you if you are attracting the right people. If you are not, then you better start devising ways to reach out to them. If you are, keep it up!

But how would we know?

We need Twitter analytics to help us manage our following! And Ad.ly was created to do just that.

Just sign up for an account with Ad.ly or sign in with your Twitter account directly.

Below is my personal account analytics:

I better start managing my followers! More than half of them are not even engaged! Also, 70% of my followers are male, what happened to “women rule social media?”

Let’s look at Penn Olson‘s account analytics:

Much better. 77% of followers are engaging with us and possibly reading our tweets. Again, we see male dominance in the following. We are also reaching out to the Americans most. Overtime, we can track if our reach improves in other regions as well (our goal).

Like all kinds of analytics, we have to be clear of our goals before even analyzing the data. Only then will we get the most out of all these numbers and patterns. Let them be a guide for monitoring our progress towards a certain goal.

How much are your tweets worth?

What’s interesting with Ad.ly is that it allows Twitter users to earn money through sponsored tweets. A maximum of 1 sponsored tweet would be sent out per day.

Want to know how much your tweets are worth?

Just sign up with Ad.ly as a Twitterer and follow the steps. Just before the sign up is complete, they will reveal to you how much your tweets are worth.

I know, I know. My tweets are cheap. Got to start building my influence :(

Share with us how much your tweets are worth; or any surprising data you’ve found from your analytics!

It's interesting and I can see how it can help with worthy causes and just earning a bit of money, but is it going to be the death of Twitter? Will we be overloaded be advertisements?

    I hope not.

    It's a really interesting one.
