Riding the iPad Wave By Selling Accessories

ipad keyboard_dockApple lovers are especially particular with their laptop accessories. So naturally, with the launch of iPad, many businesses are looking to ride the iPad wave by providing exactly what the market needs – accessories; in hope of gaining a quick profit before the imitators catch on.

Apple has introduced its own iPad keyboard, and an iPad sleeve is certainly going to be a highly sought after accessory. The WSJ has identified 3 companies, Belkin, Griffin and i-Luv, which have already started offering their iPad sleeves online.

If nothing suits your taste, you might want to take a look at Nitrozac and Snaggy‘s suggestions.

An e-ink screen protector?

Providing iPad sleeves is a good idea but might not be the best. The market would get saturated very soon.

Just wondering: If someone were to invent a screen protector with the Kindle e-ink technology integrated, wouldn’t that be revolutionary?

[...] Finally, on 27 Jan, Apple invited notable tech journalists and bloggers to its highly anticipated tablet launch keynote. The new Apple tablet was named the “iPad”, which was also poked fun of, contributing to more buzz on both traditional and digital media. The buzz had no sign of dampening, as Apple enthusiasts continued to  talk about it. Several ideas came up even before the iPad was physically launched (e.g an iPad “carrier“), and several businesses were already attempting to ride the iPad wave. [...]

In light of the ongoing recession, businesses and consumers have been holding off on the purchase of new computer systems; instead, they're turning increasingly to computer accessories as a means of supplementing the capabilities of the computers they already own. The US market will see little growth over the forecast period, according to next gen research, while emerging markets, especially China, will be fertile ground for these add ons.
