5 Essential iPhone Apps For Mobile Social Media Updating

iphoneAs you know, Sarah and I, together with @SimpliFlying are currently running the Singapore Airshow 2010 social media campaign. This is a good chance for us to step away from our macbooks to do what we preach. So far, it has been pretty well received.

Because of the “mobile-nature” of this campaign, my iPhone has been put to a great test. WIFI access is only available in the media room so all the tweeting and sharing while we tour around would depend solely on our phones. So, if your social media campaign requires you to go mobile (which is unavoidable in the near future), here are some apps to consider.

1. Tweetie 2

Tweetie 2 is an easy to use Twitter app that allows you to handle multiple accounts. It costs USD $2.99 and is worth every cent of it. Retweeting across all your managed accounts is simple and intuitive.

2. Foursquare

Foursquare is a location-based check-in social app (check out more here). It’s pretty new but adoption is increasing rapidly.

3. WordPress 2

If your blog is hosted by WordPress, this app is extremely useful. It gives you the ability to live blog in the simplest way. Remember to check your XML-RPC. It can be found under “settings >> writing.”

4. Twitpic

Take pictures and share them with the Twitter population. This is probably one of the most convenient apps that helps you send out a tweet with a link.

5. Flickr

This app allows you to upload your images directly to your Flickr photo set.

6. Facebook

Probably one of the best Facebook iPhone apps yet. I personally feel the app gives a cleaner view compared to the actual site itself.

Bonus 1:  YouTube

This is a default function in the iPhone and it can be found at the bottom left of the screen.

Bonus 2: Photoshop (PS) Mobile

For designers, this app allows you to do a couple of edits before sharing the image.
