More people are accessing the Internet while watching TV – Super Bowl proved this point last Sunday. @kevinweil from the Twitter analytics team managed to produce an informative graph that illustrates the reaction (in terms of tweets) of Twitter users during Super Bowl. Kevin explains it best:
“We categorized each incoming tweet as about the Super Bowl itself, about the brands or the commercials, or neither. Dividing each group by the total volume of tweets, we produced the graph below which represents a minute-by-minute reflection of people’s thoughts and emotions during the game.”
Each major blue spike (D, L, R, T) represents an excitement point of the game and the red spikes (C, E, F, O) represent Twitterverse’s favorite commercials. It seems like Doritos and Google stood out this time round. At least in the eyes of thousands of Twitter users, and their real-time consensus is definitely more accurate than any focus group or survey.
