We last reported that Facebook is coming close to dethroning Yahoo and Google in terms of unique web traffic.
Today, we checked with Compete’s data and found that Facebook has overtaken Yahoo to become the world’s second most visited site. All it took was a slight improvement and a slight dip from Facebook and Yahoo respectively.
In any case, Yahoo has only itself to blame for not capitalizing the early head start it had over its competitors. And for Facebook, a combination of smart business decisions, user friendly features (mostly) and strong supporters has made the giant what it is today.
Watch out Google, you are next!

Google Buzz to the Rescue?
Google’s search engine is doing so well that further growth is difficult. That could explain Google’s Parisian Love ad during the recent Super Bowl to convert offline audience to its site.
With money and talent, Google would naturally grow to want a piece of everything related to the web. Google Buzz for one is an initiative to gain a piece of the now trending social media space. Would it be able to rescue Google from Facebook’s invasion?
