brewerkz-logo largeWe know a social media savvy microbrewery restaurant when we see one.

And when we found out about what Brewerkz Singapore is doing on social media, we knew we can learn something from it. The people behind this really understand that social media is not all about monetary ROI and are willing to spend time to engage with customers.

Twitter

To engage loyal customers, @BrewerkzSG tweets frequently about anything from latest promotions to facts about its microbrewery restaurant. Its growing presence and cool event promotions on Twitter are attracting many new patrons as well.

Brewerkz BeerTweetups are also organized to bring the Twitter peeps together, and it’s becoming a culture for some of them to hang out there regularly. What’s more, they get to enjoy exclusive discounts and freebies!

You must be thinking, what can a business like that tweet about? Loads of interesting things!

- Promotions, events and Tweetup invites

- Launch of new beers

- Contest
i.e. We are launching a new dragon fruit and honey beer, and would like you to name it!

- Funny sayings and laws

- Interesting facts about Brewerkz
i.e. Did you know that we sell 8,000 liters of beer each week? #brewfacts

How Brewerkz measures Twitter ROI

Brewerkz understands the difficulty of measuring how social media brings in actual sales. However, that does not mean that ROI is zero. It uses available tools to monitor if it is on the right track in engaging the community:

SocialMention.com: This tool scans blogs, tweets, Youtube and other social media avenues to determine users’ sentiment towards the Brewerkz brand. This way, Brewerkz would be able to find out what others have been saying about it and react where necessary.

TweetReach.com: This website determines the number of impressions Brewerkz has created with certain tweets. Hash tags are particularly useful for this tool.

Other than these, Brewerkz also plans to launch exclusive promotions for Twitter soon. Exclusive promo codes for tweeps would enable it to track sales accurately.

Facebook

When Brewerkz first started its Facebook fan page, it offered its first 1,000 fans free beer. To date, it has over 1,700 fans and this number is growing steadily. The page became a strong avenue for customer service and sharing of photos and videos. Brewerkz also acknowledges winners of its contests through its Facebook avatar to show appreciation.

How Brewerkz measures Facebook ROI

Facebook insights: Brewerkz utilizes this tool to measure post quality and the number of interactions. It also knows who its Facebook audience are by tracking which countries fans come from.

Google Analytics: Driving traffic to the website is important and Brewerkz uses analytics to find out how much of it comes from Facebook.

Foursquare

Brewerkz is currently running an offer at all its outlets on Foursquare as seen below.

Since it started the promotion, the number of tips (recommendations) left at its profiles have increased significantly. From what we heard, the competition for Mayorship is intense as well!

BuUuk

Brewerkz is in the midst of running its second promotion (one-for-one beer pints) with BuUuk, an iPhone and android phone application (for restaurants search) that has over 50,000 users in Singapore alone. Its first promotion (one-for-one burgers) received over 2,000 offer views and the tool itself has helped Brewerkz achieve top of mind effect with restaurant seekers. Being on mobile tools are especially important to ride the fast increasing mobile trend.

Chlkboard

Chlkboard is a new location-based web application made for iPhone displays the latest promotions within a radius of 5km from where a user is. Being a savvy business, Brewerkz isn’t afraid to try out new tools, which is very important when it comes to social media. We shouldn’t stick to Twitter and Facebook exclusively when there are so many new tools coming up recently. Explore the opportunities and start early!

Tumblr

Brewerkz Tumblr

For those who missed Brewerkz’s promotion and event tweets, they can now get updated on Tumblr! A blog is a great place to get organized with various content. On Twitter and Facebook, updates get flushed down really fast and too many repeat updates would drive followers and fans crazy. Brilliant decision, Brewerkz!

Social Media Friendly Website

Brewerkz Website

As a business, you don’t just want to drive traffic from social media tools to the website. You want it to go the other way too. Getting a bigger audience on these tools is important for relationship building, and it would in one way or another help spread word of mouth. Remember, social media tools work extremely well interdependently.

I have heard of Brewerkz Singapore since late 1990s. Visited the place a couple of times to enjoy its relax environment near Clarke Quay; very chill-out place, nice people and always friendly staff. With today's internet social media, I'm surprise that there have evolved so much into engaging people who are internet savvy as well. With twitter and facebook and offering free beer, i think its a good bet to turn anyone who are glued to net surfing into a healthier and interactive social lifestyle. Thanks for sharing!.

I think they are spreading themselves too thin by using so many platforms all at once. I wonder how do they decide what to use….

Thanks for reading! If you are in SIngapore, join our tweetup! (:

It's more of a trial and error. The thing about social media is the willingness to try. What's more, BuUuk and Chlkboard are mobile apps. They dont need much maintenance.

To be successful in social media, we need a set of strategies to stimulate user-generated content, and not try to control content. If customers are saying all the good things about u online, what is there left for you to do? Hold a couple of tweetups and offer rewards when they visit!
