America’s current number one movie, ‘How To Train Your Dragon” has gathered over 100k fans on Facebook. Besides a mere presence, the movie also employed several interactive elements on its website to keep fans and potential viewers engaged.
One of its interesting features allows you to “burn down” a website of your choice with a dragon’s fiery flames. Just for the fun of it, we have chosen to burn this site of ours. The movie website also includes a dragon egg widget, whereby users can incubate and interact with their dragon after it is hatched (try below).
Overall, the digital experience is amazing, but of course, the movie is even better.

The movie’s Facebook page communicates in a casual manner, and doesn’t push people to catch the movie. I particularly like the series of comedy videos that “teaches” you more about the dragons, and the movie’s Tumblr blog that focuses on the movie’s behind the scenes interviews.

“How To Train Your Dragon” has showcased what a few simple web elements can do. You might not want to hatch a second egg or burn down another website but it is sufficient to entice you to catch the trailer… and subsequently, the movie. What’s more, bloggers like us just can’t help but to share its success. Enjoy the trailer below!
