1 Million Facebook Fans = $3.6 Million In Media Value

facebook_logoEver wonder how much your Facebook fan page is worth? Vitrue, a social media management company has the answer. It examined over 41 million Facebook fans in a research, which revealed that a page with a million fans is equivalent to at least $3.6 million worth of media value.

“That means a marketer posting twice a day can expect about 60 million impressions per month through the news feed,” Brandweek reports. Even as a free tool that is not only easy to use, but engaging and full of viral potential, the result is hard to believe. Maybe that’s why most of us are able to find our favorite brands on Facebook.

The calculation method:

“Vitrue arrived at its $3.6 million figure by working off a $5 CPM, meaning a brand’s 1 million fans generate about $300,000 in media value each month. Using Vitrue’s calculation, Starbucks‘ 6.5 million fan base — acquired in part with several big ad buys — is worth $23.4 million in media annually.”

Engagement Rules

It was also revealed that brands that made an effort to connect and engage with friends perform best; highlighting the key element that differentiates social from traditional media. Brands that genuinely connect with its fans attract 3.6 impressions per fan, compared to a “corporate style” fanpage, which generates only 0.44 impressions.

Engaging with fans is easy. All a brand has to do is be itself. Humanize your brand and be approachable. We have included several resources below to take you further.
