When asked what we thought the future is in a HP event, we answered, “the future is mobile.” And we are seeing it unfold with the help of Smartphones and applications, such as Foursquare.
As other media are seeing a fall in time spent per day, mobile is seeing a rise, at 1 h 18 min. People are accessing social sites/apps, casual games, messengers, music and videos with one device, and on the go.
According to eMarketer, “talk time on mobile was up 12%, while average daily mobile Web use rose 36% to 11 minutes. Texting was also up, by 55%, to take up 27 minutes a day in 2009.”

Companies with foresight are already engaging or planning to engage in mobile app marketing. If you are planning to create an app or get involved with existing apps, including location-based ones, make sure you have your consumers in mind and create value for them.
