After surveying 1,898 marketers (with a fairly equal proportion of B2B & B2C centric participants), Michael A. Stelzner, who spearheaded the 2010 Social Media Marketing Industry Report, has gathered a comprehensive list of 7 social media marketing benefits.
Among the 7 benefits, 2 that impress me the most are:
1 in 2 marketers declares that social media has helped to (1) generate qualified leads and (2) sell products/services – both contributing to revenue growth. As we have previously mentioned that getting buy-in from senior management is the second biggest obstacle toward social media marketing, these statistics will be useful for marketers to strengthen their arguments.
An astonishing 85% of the marketers surveyed have also indicated that social media has generated exposure for their business. The rest of the benefits are nicely visualized in a chart below.

Blogs Most Crucial

The study has also revealed that most marketers are looking to increase their investment in their corporate blogs. In sync with our views, this statistic highlights the importance of a blog in a social media strategy (Previously mentioned under our “12 Social Media Tips For Small Businesses“).
