Nike’s Viral Ad Commands 1 Million Views Daily

nike adWe fell in love with Nike’s star-studded viral video ad when we first saw it.

It had amazingly accumulated 2.8 million views in 5 days but soon hit the 10 millions views milestone within the next 5 days. On average, it equates to 1 million views per day or 11 views per second!

The video has reached and won many hearts across the world (see image below). YouTube’s audience analysis has also reflected that the video is most popular among males, age 18 to 44.

Undoubtedly, this viral ad has successfully ridden the upcoming FIFA World Cup hype. The result is a huge success and interestingly, Nike isn’t even the official sponsor for this year’s world cup. Perhaps, Nike finds its viral ad a more cost effective strategy than sponsoring the event. What do you think?

It's great for Nike that the commercial has gone viral. However, no matter how good you plan it, you cannot control whether your video will really go viral or not. I am sure, the company had a really good strategy, but after all you can only do so much and you have no control over what people will really share.
