With over 500 million active users on Facebook currently, founder Mark Zuckerberg claimed that his social networking site is almost guaranteed to hit the 1 billion user mark.
His optimism isn’t without any logic. Facebook’s huge user base has been its most powerful marketing tool.
As many of us have experienced, the word of mouth effect and peer pressure are extremely hard to ignore. Registration is next and addiction will soon follow.

Facebook has so far failed to capture huge markets like Russia and China. To maintain its global dominance, founder Zuckerberg has acknowledged that these markets have to be tackled. Perhaps Twitter could be a good case study, as it has enjoyed success in Japan, where Facebook still struggles to get hold of a significant market share.
Facebook and Business
Facebook’s dominance is perfect for advertisers. There isn’t a need to set up multiple social fronts. It could one day be the only social media platform that matters to businesses. Of course, Twitter can’t be ruled out that easily as study has highlighted its effectiveness over Facebook.
The reality is that the two social platforms are working well with one another – a perfect combination. Do you agree?
