We previously reported that email and social media marketing are marketers’ top two priorities for 2010.
How great would it be if both channels can fusion as one? And the simplest method to do so is to incorporate social media share buttons in your email. A simple action but the results could differ tremendously.
After analyzing 500 million emails sent by over 19,000 email marketers, GetResponse revealed that email messages with social media share buttons generate 30% higher click-through rate (CTR) on average.

More buttons, the better
The number of social media buttons matters too. It was found that emails with 3 or more icons are likely to achieve better CTR. With more options for people to share the message, the probability that an email is shared naturally gets higher.

However, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we should “spam-add” these buttons in our email messages. Understand where your target audience is and add only the buttons that matter.
