Which is the top social network with the widest advertising reach in the U.S? Definitely Facebook.
According to ComScore, the world largest social network site has a reach of 62.4%, approximately three times more than second place MySpace, and 10 times more than third place LinkedIn.
Twitter has enjoyed early success with its ad platform. Advertisers are happy with the performance but the data only reflects that the micro-blogging site has only a 3.2% reach in the U.S. The reach and result don’t really match isn’t it?
We’re not sure how ComScore computed this data. But a rational reason to explain Twitter’s low reach is its insistence to only show ads in its search results. As users, we should be happy about that. History has shown that that’s the way to build a business. Facebook and Google did it and now it’s Twitter’s turn.
