Facebook has grown to become a social network behemoth, which bashes and throws competitors out of their domain countries. Facebook domination is what we observed and it is now visualized on a world map.
Vincenzo Cosenza created the map with data based on Alexa and Google Trends. This map is an upgraded version of the previous one back in June. This time round, Cosenza decided to fix the color for each social-network for easy comparison over time.
So what new territories have Facebook occupied recently? According to his findings, Facebook has overthrown competitors and taken over the following countries in the last 6 months:
- From Iwiw: Hungary
- From Nasza-Klasa: Poland
- From Hi5: Mongolia
- From Orkut (Google): Paraguay and India.

Thanks to China and Russia, the world map isn’t looking too blue-ish. Renren and V Kontakte remain to be the leading social-network in China and Russia respectively. With over 400 million Internet users, China is a key market that can’t be missed. Qzone, Renren (which is gearing for U.S IPO) and the great firewall of China will be Facebook’s greatest obstacles toward world domination.
