Apple iAd To Revolutionize Mobile Advertising

byWillis WeeinUncategorized
Update: Toy Story 3 iAd demo video embedded below. Every time Apple announces something new, it's probably groundbreaking. Yesterday's iPhone OS 4 announcement was yet another example, especially with its number 7 "tentpole" feature – the iAd. We covered it 2 weeks ago and it was already coined as “next big thing” by Apple then. Judging from Mr Jobs's keynote presentation, the iAd is indeed going to be the "next big thing" and we're excited by how it could contribute to the growing mobile advertising market (or even revolutionize it). In short, Steve ...

Connect with us via Google Buzz here :) Google Buzz appeared on the Twitter trending topic when I woke up (it's morning in Singapore). It's something that the web has been waiting for and I kind of got up late to catch it fresh from the oven. Nonetheless, I still managed to quickly dip my hands into this new Gmail feature and give my initial thoughts. Catch the videos below to understand how Google Buzz works first. Google Buzz Google Buzz Mobile Thoughts? I would say that the functions are pretty standard. It works like ...
Facebook’s New Photo Uploader

bySarah ChonginUncategorized
More than 2.5 billion photos are uploaded to Facebook each month. Imagine how many more there would be if uploading wasn't such a pain sometimes. A new photo uploader that is faster and simpler certainly sounds appealing. According to Inside Facebook, "The company has rebuilt the uploader to run as a browser plugin, which should mitigate the bugs and other problems that users have sometimes encountered with it to date. To get started, users will need to install the plugin in their browser, a process the company says should only take a couple ...
PIC: A Guide To Facebook’s New Homepage

bySarah ChonginUncategorized
Facebook has changed its homepage design again. But I trust it will make our experience a better one. This new homepage basically promises the same things: faster, better, easier, as explained in a relatively lengthy blog post. 80 million users are already able to view the new homepage live. The picture below basically tells you everything you need to know about this new homepage. Let us know what you like or don't like about this new design after. Click to enlarge image. Special thanks to Eric Stoller.
Google News Now More Targeted
byWillis WeeinUncategorized
You can now further customize your Google news; making it more targeted and relevant to your search. When you see news that interests you, click on the star next to its title. This way, Google can alert you whenever there is an update or development. Notice a star on the left of the title? According to Google software engineer, Jude Britto, "People can click on "stars" to mark groups of stories on preferred subjects to signal Google News to watch for updates or developments. When you star a story in Google News, it's ...
Facebook Page: Post Analytics Might Come Soon [PIC]
bySarah ChonginUncategorized
Facebook has recently launched its "retweet" feature, and we would expect more additions like this in 2010. Mark Cowan of Facebook dropped hints during a presentation in Poland that the giant social-networking site is in preparation to launch a post analytics feature for all Facebook page administrators. This post analytics feature allows you to track post impressions and feedback percentage, which would definitely bring valuable insights to businesses. Facebook has finally come out with a new feature that is un-twitter-ish. In fact, this brilliant idea might just spur Twitter to do the ...
PICTURES: Twitter’s New Home

bySarah ChonginUncategorized
TechCrunch reported that Twitter moved into a new and bigger office in San Francisco today. Despite it being a weekend, some of the members of the Twitter team went back to decorate Twitter's new home. The place, previously occupied by Bebo is now "Twitterfied" with birds and @ symbols. It is also fully equipped with a DJ booth, spacious meeting areas and a nice, cozy kitchen. It sure looked like fun!
New Twitter Feature ‘Lists’ Will Benefit Everyone

byWillis WeeinUncategorized
Yesterday, Twitter announced its new feature 'Lists'. It aims to bring like-minded tweeps, such as business minded people or football fans together on a list. It is pretty similar to a Facebook page or group. A particular list that you form on Twitter can either be set as public or private. This will obviously bring in plenty of opportunities. More from Nick Kallen, the project lead on lists: "The idea is to allow people to curate lists of Twitter accounts. For example, you could create a list of the funniest Twitter accounts of ...
COOL: YouTube Stars Launched Their Own Record Label

byWillis WeeinVideo
YouTube songwriters, Alan Lastrufka (fallofautumndistro) and Hank Green (vlogbrothers), have joined forces to launch DFTBA, their very own record label, which stands for "Don't Forget To Be Awesome". With the rise of web 2.0, social media is shutting off traditional media gatekeepers, giving everyone an "unedited" voice in this online community. In this case, social media has given people the chance to 'broadcast themselves', connect with fellow like-minded friends and perhaps make a career out of it. Like a proud parent, YouTube is quick to showoff the achievements of its members: "To date, ...

Google's online advertising segment, which brought it a multi-billion dollar revenue last year (and probably again this year) is going for another major upgrade. As announced on its blog, Google is launching a DoubleClick Ad Exchange, which aims to grow the display advertising pie for everyone. That means Google, advertisers and publishers alike! The concept is simple. The new Ad Exchange is a real-time marketplace that helps large online publishers and advertisers buy and sell display advertising space. Google explains: "These publishers and ad networks manage and represent large volumes of ads and ad ...
News + Insights: Facebook’s @ Tagging in Status Updates

bySarah ChonginUncategorized
Facebook has been quick to learn and adopt cool features introduced by other social media sites. It's "like" function for one, was inspired by FriendFeed, which it eventually acquired. Just 12 hours ago, we saw Facebook treating Twitter's @ tagging feature as its own. The feature has enabled Twitter users to tag their friends in their tweets and has become the natural way for one to one conversations. Being such a simple and yet brilliant communication method, it is no wonder Facebook finds it irresistible! How Facebook's @ Tagging Works Facebook's Engineer, Tom ...
