This ‘ghost’ has more than 350,000 followers in his Twitter account, Poconggg, and he boasts over 26,000 fans on his Facebook page. Malaysia’s Facebook Fighters

Malaysia’s Facebook Fighters

Social media is a tool that can be used for many unusual purposes. But in Malaysia, one especially surprising use is the recruiting of street gang members online. Chinese Web Users Love Social Media – and that’s Great News for Brands

We've long known that China's hundreds of millions of web users are especially engaged with social media online - more so than users in the US - and now we have updated stats for 2011 that show how huge microblogging is becoming here. A sizeable 42% of Chinese netizens are posting to microblogs - Twitter.com clones such as Sina Weibo, Tencent Weibo, or the new Baidu Talk which I reviewed last week - during their time online. That contrasts to only 10% of Americans posting to a microblog - well, ...

How did social media play a part in the Singapore General Election 2011? "A huge role," at least according to the opposition parties. AFP wrote a nice story on how social media has helped the Singapore opposition parties spread their messages across the web. Most importantly, social media has helped" bypass pro-PAP newspapers and broadcast," as described by Chee Soon Juan, secretary-general at Singapore Democratic Party. It is a strong statement and I shall leave that for discussions. Other opposition parties also echoed the same thoughts. Koh Choon Yong, the webmaster of Workers' ...
