Microsoft is launching a viral web campaign today in Hong Kong that’s aimed at reducing software piracy. Chinese location-based service Jiepang is once again teaming up with Nokia to bring NFC-enabled check-ins to venues across China. Rumors in the tech industry in China suggest that Sina has signed an investment agreement with the newly IPO’d video-sharing site Tudou.com (NASDAQ: TUDO), and will receive about four percent of Tudou’s shares. That values Sina’s stake in Tudou at US$40 million. Tudou is Running Out of Money
A Sina Tech report this morning suggests that Tudou, one of China's largest internet video sites, is facing dire financial straits. According to the company's recently released Q2 financial reports, it has about $20 million US in available cash, but its expenses for Q2 of this year were over $26 million US. Shanda has reportedly suspended the planned IPO of its Shanda Literature and Cloudary division, which is a digital publisher and books portal, in a sign of growing fears of volatile market conditions.
